Do you frequently neglect work, study, and leisure activities to surf the net? Are you moody and irritable if you are separated from your computer? Do you usually get angry if the internet doesn’t work?
If the answer to any of those questions is ‘yes’, then the chances are that you are an internet addict. An internet addict is a person who suffers a compulsion to use any device with Internet whenever and wherever they are. What’s more, these people can’t resist the urge to switch on the computer, unnecessarily, taking precedence over everything else. The main symptom is to feel miserable if you are not able to use the computer for any reason. Other problems may include losing ability to do anything which is not related to computers. These addiction issues stem from the need to unwind from stress and social problems. Experts have already warned us about this increasingly worrying problem among the youth.
So, what can be done if you think you may have a problem of internet addiction? First of all, make sure you resist the urge to be online and consider staying away from your computer occasionally when you are at home or with other people. Another key point is to find other leisure activities to help you forget about internet for a few hours. Not only will you save time but you may also spend quality time with your loved ones.
